Process for Individual RT Sessions
1. Assessment & Planning
This step includes a discussion and activity with Erin and the participant as well as their family, friend, or support staff (if needed) to learn more about the participant's interests, goals, and needs.
From this information, we will create a plan that includes session specifics to best support the individual in meeting their goals.
2. Sessions
This is what it's all about! This is where Erin and the participant engage in recreational activities that fit the participant's needs and interests to support their growth. These sessions are typically 1-2 hours, but can be adjusted. Here is the basic schedule for an individual session:
-Opening chat: ~10-15 mins
(check in about how we're feeling, discuss plan, activities, and goals for the day)
-Activity participation: ~30 mins-1 hr
(enjoy participating in activities planned while working towards goals)
-Closing Chat: ~10-15 mins
(discuss goal achievement status & plan for next session)
3. Reassessment
After every 5-6 sessions, the participants and their staff, family, and friends (if needed) will meet again to discuss the participant's progress towards their goals as well as any updated needs and interests. They will then adjust the plan to best accommodate any changes.
